Privacy Policy for Proofmode

This Privacy Policy covers all Proofmode products and services, including the Proofmode.org website, the Proofmode Capture apps for Android and iOS, and the ProofCheck Verify web tool.

Our Core Principle

We do not store or retransmit your data. Proofmode is designed to keep you in control of your information at all times.

Proofmode.org Website

The Proofmode.org website does not collect, store, or share any personal data from visitors. We do not use cookies, analytics trackers, or any other user monitoring technologies.

Proofmode Capture Apps (Android & iOS)

The Proofmode Capture apps generate cryptographic proof and metadata about the photos, videos, and audio you capture. All proof data, including sensor metadata, location information, and cryptographic signatures, is created and stored locally on your device. We do not collect, upload, or have access to any of this data.

You decide if and when to share your proof data with others. Proofmode never transmits your captures or their associated metadata to our servers.

ProofCheck Verify Web Tool

ProofCheck runs entirely in your browser. When you use ProofCheck to verify a file, the file and its associated proof data are processed locally on your device. No data is uploaded to our servers at any point during the verification process.

ProofSign Remote Signing Service

The one exception to our no-data-sharing principle is when you choose to use the ProofSign remote signing service within the Proofmode Capture apps. When you submit a file for remote C2PA signing, the following information is temporarily shared with our ProofSign server:

  • Device type as included in the C2PA Manifest
  • Geolocation data as included in the C2PA Manifest
  • IP address of the request
  • SHA-256 hash of the media file being notarized

This data is used solely to complete the signing process. It is not permanently stored on our servers and is discarded after the signing operation is complete. The actual media file itself is never uploaded — only its cryptographic hash.

Third-Party Services

We do not share, sell, or provide your data to any third parties for advertising, analytics, or any other purpose.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
