Convene is a browser-based, ephemeral, and encrypted messaging app built for journalists, activists, human-rights defenders, and anyone in need of maximum privacy in difficult situations. It is also the FIRST messaging app to integrate support for Proofmode and the C2PA standard, including the display of provenance and authentication labels and information right within the chat experience.
From a user’s perspective, they are told when an image or video came directly from a camera, when it may have been edited, when it is older than 3 months, or possibly created by generative AI tools. These signals help combat mis and dis-information from spreading within high stakes communication. Convene also maintains the metadata and cryptographic chain-of-custody of shared media by enabling upload and forwarding without recompression or metadata stripping.
